Media: Israel may resume operations against Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon

07 May 2026 13:42

Israel may resume large-scale operations against senior Hezbollah figures following reports of the killing of a commander from the group’s Radwan Force.

A Lebanese political source said that an airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahieh, against the backdrop of statements by the US president about a possible agreement with Iran, indicates that Israel intends to eliminate the Hezbollah threat regardless of the progress of US-Iran negotiations, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

He added that further developments will depend on Hezbollah’s response to the reported killing.

An escalation by the group could lead to the collapse of the ceasefire and renewed fighting in Beirut and Dahieh.

The source also warned that escalation could complicate negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, where a third meeting between representatives of the two countries is expected.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz reportedly ordered the elimination of a Radwan Force commander in Lebanon.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) also confirmed the operation.
