Media: Israel plans to build F-35-like unmanned combat aircraft
Israel plans to develop an unmanned combat aircraft that would be comparable in capabilities to the US-made F-35 fighter jet, Bloomberg reports, citing a senior official.
According to the source, the project is part of a strategy to gradually reduce US military aid over the next 10 years and replace it with joint development and production programs. Israel plans to involve foreign countries in the creation of the unmanned platform.
Currently, the Israeli Air Force mainly uses propeller-driven drones for tactical missions. The agency noted that the push toward independent military production is linked to Israel’s growing international isolation and possible restrictions on US arms supplies due to the war in Gaza and the military campaign against Iran.
