Media: Israel security chief met key Palestinian figure during ceasefire
The head of Israel’s General Security Service (Shin Bet), David Zini, met with Palestinian opposition figure Mohammed Dahlan during a visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting reportedly took place during a ceasefire period. Dahlan, a former head of preventive security in the Gaza Strip, is known as a long-time political rival of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Ynet, citing sources, Dahlan is being considered as a potential figure who could play a role in the future governance of the Gaza Strip following the end of Hamas control.
The reported talks come amid ongoing discussions over possible post-conflict administrative arrangements in Gaza.
Shin Bet declined to comment on the reported meeting.
“We do not comment on the head of the service’s schedule,” the agency said.
