Media: Israeli airstrike kills senior Hamas commander in northern Gaza
An Israeli Air Force strike on the former Halima Al-Saadiya School, which has been sheltering displaced residents in Jabalia Al-Nazla in northern Gaza, has reportedly killed a senior Hamas commander along with several members of his family.
According to Arab media sources, Iyad Nasser — commander of the Jabalia battalion of the Hamas militant group — was killed in the strike. Known by his alias “Hawk” and also referred to as Abu Imran, Nasser had previously survived multiple assassination attempts, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
The strike also claimed the lives of his bodyguard, Khaled Amar Nasser, and six other members of the Nasser family.
Reports suggest that Iyad Nasser was meeting with his relatives for the first time in three months at the time of the attack.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has not yet issued an official statement regarding the operation.
