Media: Israeli PM seeks to blame IDF, Mossad for failures in Lebanon, Iran
27 April 2026 08:56
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to blame the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and the Mossad for operational failures in Iran and Lebanon, a move that has triggered discontent within the military, according to Israel Hayom.
“Military dissatisfaction is only the tip of the iceberg of a growing feeling within the IDF that Netanyahu is looking for a ‘scapegoat’ to take responsibility for disappointing results in Lebanon and partial results in Iran,” the article added.
According to the newspaper, Netanyahu plans to hold Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad responsible for the unsuccessful operation in Iran. Responsibility for failures in Lebanon, meanwhile, is expected to be placed on the IDF.
