Media: Lithuanian PM seeks meeting with Trump or JD Vance
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginene has reportedly instructed Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys to arrange a high-level meeting with US President Donald Trump or Vice President JD Vance, according to Delfi, which cited unnamed sources.
Officials have not confirmed the report. Kristina Belikova, an adviser to the foreign minister, declined to comment, neither confirming nor denying the information.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Lithuania’s diplomatic missions abroad are constantly working actively to organise high-level meetings for the country’s leadership in capitals important to Lithuania – this serves the interests of our state,” she said.
When pressed specifically about the possibility of a meeting with US leadership, Budrys’ representative declined to provide further details.
Prime Minister’s adviser Ignas Dobrovolskas said that, at present, a visit to the United States is not included in the government’s plans.
“However, we highly value our strategic partners and their assistance in ensuring the security of our state. High-level contacts between Lithuania and the United States are always important and beneficial. The United States is one of Lithuania’s key partners, so ties are actively maintained at all levels,” he added.
