Media: Oman restricts Israel-bound containers at Salalah port

Omani authorities have informally restricted the handling of containers bound for Israel at the Port of Salalah, according to Israel’s Channel 12, potentially disrupting a key trade route for several agricultural commodities.

Salalah has served as a transit hub for goods from East Africa, including coffee, cocoa and sesame seeds exported to Israel through Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

The reported restrictions have raised concerns among Israeli food producers, particularly tahini manufacturers, who have warned that disruptions to sesame seed supplies could lead to shortages.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry is reportedly seeking to address the issue through diplomatic channels, although efforts have yet to produce a concrete resolution.

The Port of Salalah has also sustained significant damage in recent Iranian strikes, according to the report.
