Starmer, Trump discuss Russia‑Ukraine, Iran following Geneva talks

18 February 2026 13:05

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump on the evening of February 17, focusing on the ongoing U.S.-mediated peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Geneva, a Downing Street spokesperson said.

The leaders also addressed the latest round of U.S.-Iran discussions over Tehran’s nuclear programme, with Starmer stressing the need for diplomatic progress, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

Gaza was another key topic, with the Prime Minister emphasising the importance of securing further access for humanitarian aid.

Negotiators from Ukraine and Russia concluded the first of two days of U.S.-mediated discussions in Geneva, with President Trump reportedly urging Kyiv to move swiftly towards a potential agreement.

The talks represent the latest U.S. efforts to advance peace in Eastern Europe while continuing to engage Iran on nuclear diplomacy.
