Media: “The Simpsons” writer enters race for the White House
Dan Greaney, a writer for “The Simpsons” who is often associated with the show’s alleged “prediction” of Donald Trump’s presidency, has announced his intention to run in the 2028 U.S. presidential election, Delfi reports.
Greaney wrote the episode “Bart to the Future,” which aired 16 years before Trump’s election victory. In the episode, Lisa Simpson, after becoming president of the United States, refers to a “budget crisis inherited from President Trump,” which later fuelled discussions about the show’s supposed predictions.
In a published video statement, the four-time Primetime Emmy Award winner criticises the American political establishment and declares his intention to run under the slogan “America for Everyone.”
According to materials released by his campaign team, Greaney supports universal healthcare, the “Green New Deal,” and the restoration of democratic norms. He also describes himself as a “progressive Republican.”
The next U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 7, 2028.
