Media: Top Israeli military and intelligence officials opposed Doha strike
10 September 2025 10:30
Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Eyal Zamir and Mossad head David Barnea reportedly voiced objections to a strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.
During discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the possibility of the operation, Zamir and Barnea expressed doubts about the timing and strategic sense of the strike while negotiations over a deal were ongoing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media outlet Detaly.
Acting Shin Bet chief Sh. reportedly supported the elimination of members of the Hamas Political Bureau. Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Israel Katz backed the plan.
The decision to proceed with the operation was reportedly influenced in part by “positive signals” from the Trump administration.
