Media: Trump to discuss Hezbollah disarmament with Lebanese president
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is expected to raise the issue of setting a timetable for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon during talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington, TASS reports, citing an Arab diplomatic source.
The source said Aoun will press for a clear timeline limiting the presence of Israeli troops on Lebanese territory.
According to the report, in return for providing security guarantees to Lebanon, Trump is expected to seek commitments from Aoun on the disarmament of Hezbollah throughout the country.
The source added that Aoun will also brief Trump on the Lebanese government's economic recovery plan, which includes holding an international donor conference in the near future.
The two leaders are, reportedly, also expected to discuss the rearmament of the Lebanese army to strengthen its ability to maintain regional stability.
