Media: Uganda's army chief demands $1 billion, "most beautiful woman" from Türkiye
Uganda’s top military commander, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has stirred controversy after demanding $1 billion from Türkiye and asking for “the most beautiful woman” in the country as his wife to prevent a deterioration in relations between Kampala and Ankara.
He said if their problems are not resolved, they will sever all diplomatic relations with Türkiye within the next 30 days, Caliber.Az reports, citing TASS.
“We demand that Türkiye immediately provide $1 billion before the start of negotiations,” the Ugandan army chief wrote on X.
That post was subsequently deleted.
In another deleted message, Kainerugaba stressed that the funds he was demanding from Türkiye would serve as a “security dividend” for Uganda’s role in stabilising Somalia, where it has played a leading role since 2007.
