Media: US Army vehicle hits female pedestrian to death in Bavaria
On January 12 morning, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Bavaria, Germany, claiming the life of a female pedestrian.
A 19-year-old US citizen driving a US Army SUV veered off the B14 highway near Ansbach city for reasons that remain unclear, Caliber.Az reports via the German media outlet Bild.
The vehicle crossed a grassy area onto a cycle path and footpath. After 100 meters, the SUV hit a 33-year-old pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly afterwards. The driver, stationed at the nearby Katterbach US Army base, was unharmed. The US Army Garrison Ansbach issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim’s family and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
The B14 highway was closed between Pfaffengreuth and Obereichenbach until 11 a.m. local time. A court-ordered expert was brought in to examine the scene as part of the investigation.
