Media: US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth on verge of losing his job

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is reportedly on the verge of losing his job, with the reasons including the deadlock in the conflict with Iran, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reports, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The outlet said that a string of negative media reports, as well as the situation aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, whose crew is reportedly facing food shortages and poor sanitary conditions, could push him to resign.

One source told the publication that the lack of a solid breakthrough on Iran had particularly angered US President Donald Trump.
