Media: US intervention helps keep Israel-Lebanon talks on track in Rome

The United States carried out urgent diplomatic efforts to contain tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, helping to prevent the collapse of ongoing negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Rome, according to Lebanon's Nida Al Watan, which cited a source.

The source said Washington succeeded in keeping the negotiating process on track, with the talks having already achieved significant progress.

The US intervention also ensured that a third day of negotiations, scheduled for Thursday in Rome, could go ahead.

According to the report, the Lebanese authorities were simultaneously working to reduce tensions in southern Lebanon through diplomatic and military contacts. However, the situation was said to have come close to a major escalation due to Hezbollah's refusal to cooperate and Israel's efforts to eliminate any potential threats.

The source added that all possible scenarios remain on the table. Lebanon is reportedly taking steps to halt the escalation as quickly as possible and return the sides to negotiations, while the United States continues to press for a diplomatic resolution that takes Lebanon's position into account.
