Media: US, Iran continue behind-the-scenes talks, despite public denials
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with US.envoy Steve Witkoff in which he conveyed Tehran’s readiness to pursue an agreement, Ynet reports, citing sources familiar with the discussions.
The report notes that Araghchi said Iran has received approval from the country’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, to seek a “swift resolution,” provided that Iran’s conditions are met.
Other US officials, including Jared Kushner, also participated in the call, suggesting that contacts between Washington and Tehran continue, despite public denials from Iran following US President Donald Trump’s claims of productive weekend talks.
Sources told Ynet that significant differences remain between the two sides. The report also highlighted that Israel was not involved in the discussions and learned of them through other channels.
