Media: US military aircraft issues distress signal over Europe
An American military transport aircraft, the Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, emitted a distress signal while flying over Europe after departing from Romania, according to a source cited by TASS within EU air traffic control circles.
“An aircraft that departed from Romania issued a distress signal while flying over Czech airspace,” the source told the agency, without specifying the reason for the alert.
The aircraft, in service for around 20 years, continued its flight toward Germany at an altitude of approximately 10.3 km. It is expected to land at the Ramstein Air Base, according to the report.
The source also recalled that on May 5, another US aircraft, a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, had previously issued a distress signal over the Persian Gulf, though it later landed safely.
