Media: US pressuring Israel for Gaza ceasefire
Amos Hochstein, Deputy Assistant and Senior Advisor to the American President for Energy and Investment, stated during talks in Beirut that the United States is exerting pressure on Israel to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Caliber.Az reports, citing Sky News Arabia.
According to a source familiar with the discussions, Hochstein emphasized the seriousness of the US in pursuing a ceasefire in Gaza, while Egypt and Qatar are simultaneously applying pressure on Hamas. He also expressed confidence that resolving the conflict in Gaza could help ease tensions between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah movement.
On August 14, Hochstein met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Beirut, where he urged a diplomatic solution to the ongoing situation on the Lebanon-Israel border, highlighting that a direct confrontation between the two sides could still be avoided.
