Media: US Secretary of State pledges Ukraine's seat in future peace talks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has assured Ukrainian officials that Kyiv would be included in negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Secretary Rubio informed his Ukrainian counterpart that Washington has no intention of excluding Ukraine from the talks, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Rubio also stated that according to diplomats present at the G7 foreign ministers' meeting held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, such a move would be foolish.
This statement came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that his country would not accept a peace deal imposed from the top down.
Earlier, Press Secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that Ukraine will undoubtedly participate in the negotiations, but the key player on this issue is Washington.
"In one way or another, of course, Ukraine will be involved in the negotiations. There will also be a bilateral Russia-US talks in this dialogue, which will certainly be linked to Ukraine's involvement," Peskov added.
