Media: Vance's inner circle opposes Trump meeting with Netanyahu

Senior US administration officials close to Vice President JD Vance are working to prevent a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, Ynet reports, citing senior Israeli sources.

The sources claim that relations between Netanyahu and Trump are significantly better than portrayed in media reports and that some accounts of tensions between the two leaders have been exaggerated.

However, certain officials within the US administration are said to oppose a meeting, viewing it as a potential attempt to persuade Trump to adopt a tougher stance toward Iran.

No date has been set for the talks. Aryeh Lightstone, an adviser to Steve Witkoff, is expected to meet with Netanyahu to discuss the possibility of arranging a meeting with the US president.

Netanyahu hopes to travel to the United States next week and attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham on July 27. The Israeli premier, however, reportedly does not intend to visit Washington unless a meeting with Trump is confirmed.
