Medical evacuation helicopter crashes in Libya, killing five video
A medical helicopter crash in southeastern Libya has killed five people, according to local sources cited by the newspaper Al Wasat on Tuesday, February 10.
The incident occurred near the city of Kufra, in the vicinity of the Al-Sarra base. The helicopter was returning from a medical evacuation mission linked to a road traffic accident that had taken place on the grounds of a military base when it crashed.
Those killed in the accident included two members of the military, a male nurse, and two members of the helicopter’s crew, the sources said. Preliminary assessments point to either a technical malfunction or unfavourable weather conditions as the possible cause of the crash.
Local authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, and an official statement is expected.
