Meet Xiaomi’s most affordable smartphone this year

Chinese technology company Xiaomi has introduced its most affordable smartphone of 2026, according to Gadgets360.

The company launched the Redmi 17C, a device featuring a low-cost display, an entry-level processor, limited memory, and a modest battery capacity. Gadgets360 described the smartphone as Xiaomi’s response to the ongoing component shortage affecting the industry and record-high memory prices. In China, the Redmi 17C starts at $177.

The handset comes with a plastic body and a 6.88-inch display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio processor and includes 4GB of RAM. The base model offers 64GB of internal storage.

The Redmi 17C features a 13-megapixel main camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, and AGNSS standards.

The smartphone is equipped with a 5,160mAh battery. It remains unclear whether the device will be released outside China.
