Meloni calls Trump’s remarks on Pope “unacceptable”
14 April 2026 09:42
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has condemned remarks made by US President Donald Trump about Pope Leo, describing them as “unacceptable.”
“I find President Trump's words toward the Holy Father unacceptable. The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, and it is right and proper that he calls for peace and condemns all forms of war,” Meloni said in an official statement, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The criticism follows comments by Trump, who called the Pope “terrible,” shortly after the pontiff spoke out against the US president’s threat directed at Iran.
