Memorial unveiled in honor of AZAL plane crash victims PHOTO

A memorial plaque has been unveiled to honor the crew and passengers who tragically lost their lives in the crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).

The aircraft, which was on a Baku-Grozny flight, crashed on December 25 of last year near the Kazakh city of Aktau.

The memorial plaque, which lists the names of the fallen heroes, was installed by Azerbaijani mountaineers at the State Historical-Cultural and Ethnographic Reserve "Khinalig and the Nomadic Path," a site known for its scenic beauty and cultural significance, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The plaque commemorates the lives of three crew members: Igor Kshnyakin, Alexander Kalyaninov, and Khokuma Aliyeva, as well as all those who perished in the crash. The inscription reads: "In memory of those who did not survive this tragedy."

The crash, which occurred in the vicinity of Aktau, claimed the lives of 38 individuals aboard the flight. Among the 67 people on board, 29 survived the horrific incident. The crash investigation revealed that the cause of the tragedy is still being examined, with aviation authorities continuing their inquiries.

The memorial installation serves as a poignant reminder of the lives lost in the crash and the ongoing efforts to honor the memory of those who perished. The Azerbaijani community has expressed deep sorrow, and the memorial plaque stands as a testament to the bravery and sacrifices made by the crew and passengers.
