Merz says he is unafraid to openly disagree with Trump

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has stated that he does not hesitate to voice disagreements with US President Donald Trump during their contacts.

In an interview with ZDF, Merz said the two leaders speak regularly by phone, adding that “a good partnership also involves differences of opinion,” Caliber.Az reports.

The chancellor stressed that he remains committed to strong transatlantic relations despite diverging views with the US president.

Merz added that he is willing to challenge Trump on issues, including Iran and Ukraine and will continue to defend his own position.
