Messi to sue Argentine media over privacy breach at father's funeral
Inter Miami and Argentina forward Lionel Messi will take legal action against journalists who violated his family's privacy during his father's funeral, according to journalist Fran Casaretto.
Sharing a post on X, he said: “The captain is fed up. Lionel Messi confirmed that he will take legal action against Argentine media outlets that violated the family's privacy during the farewell to Jorge Messi.”
Jorge Messi died on August 8 at the age of 69 following a prolonged illness.
His funeral was held the following day in the Argentine city of Rosario. The private farewell ceremony was attended only by family members and close relatives.
Messi is an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. With Argentina, he won the 2022 World Cup, the 2008 Olympic Games and the Copa América in 2021 and 2024. He has represented Inter Miami since 2023 and previously played for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
