Mexico accuses US of unauthorized activities by agents on its territory
The Mexican government has expressed protest and demanded detailed information from the United States over what it described as unauthorised activity by American security specialists in the northern state of Chihuahua.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum made the statement during her daily press briefing, saying authorities are seeking clarification on the purpose and circumstances of their entry into the country.
“We express concern about what happened and are requesting information so that we are clearly informed about what these individuals were doing when they entered [the country], and everything related to them,” Sheinbaum said.
According to the president, the Mexican government will send an official letter to Washington, stressing that such matters require full transparency.
She added that under Mexican law, foreign personnel arriving on official security missions are not permitted to work directly with regional authorities bypassing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and established federal protocols. She also noted that the individuals in question did not have authorisation from Mexican authorities, “even if it involved training activities.”
