Mexico and the United States have agreed to strengthen cooperation to combat the illegal arms trade, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
According to the statement, members of Mexico’s Security Council held a joint meeting with U.S. government representatives in McAllen, per Caliber.Az.
“The purpose of this mechanism is to oversee the implementation of joint actions under the border security and law enforcement cooperation program agreed upon by the two governments,” the Mexican Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting, the parties announced the launch of an initiative called ‘Misión Cortafuegos’, aimed at curbing illegal arms trafficking and enhancing coordination between the two countries.
