Migrants break through border between Morocco and Spain
More than 400 illegal migrants broke into the territory of the Spanish city of Melilla as a result of storming the fence on the Spanish-Moroccan border.
Illegals entered the territory of the Spanish enclave, resisting the Moroccan police with the help of hooks and sticks, the Spanish edition of La Gaceta reports, citing government sources.
The edition clarifies that at about 6:40 am local time, the command of the Moroccan Civil Guard recorded a group of migrants approaching the fence, numbering more than 400 people.
“The violence of the attackers forced the forces and state security agencies to use tear gas to repel the attack,” the publication explains.
The exact number of illegal immigrants that entered the territory of Melilla, according to various estimates, ranges from 130 to 400 people. No further action by law enforcement agencies has yet been announced.
