Military action halts oil terminal operations in UAE’s Fujairah port
Oil loading at Fujairah, the UAE’s main port, has been suspended due to a series of strikes triggered by military activity, Bloomberg reports, citing a shipping agent and a source familiar with the situation.
Loading at the oil terminals’ berths was halted as of March 17, including the offshore berth operated by Dutch company Koninklijke Vopak. Bloomberg noted that Abu Dhabi National Oil Co.’s loading operations at the port also remain suspended.
Fujairah, a major hub for oil and fuel exports located outside the Strait of Hormuz, has grown in strategic importance as the waterway has been effectively blocked amid the ongoing conflict.
Separately, a source told Bloomberg that a Kuwait-flagged liquefied gas tanker sustained minor damage after being struck by drone debris off the Fujairah coast.
