Mines planted by Armenia explode in Azerbaijan's Gazakh, causing injuries UPDATED

The Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office, the State Border Service, and the Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA) have made a joint statement on mine explosion in the Gazakh district.

Serviceman of the Azerbaijani State Border Service, Sergeant Khayal Akhadli and ANAMA's employee Afig Mehdisade, both underwent foot amputations after being injured in a mine explosion in Gizilhajili village, located in the Gazakh district, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.

The mines planted by Armenia exploded in the village of Gizilhajili in the Gazakh district on August 2.

The incident resulted in injuries to several individuals, Caliber.Az reports citing a joint statement by the Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office, the State Border Service, and the Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA).

State Border Service sergeant Khayal Ahadli and ANAMA employee Afig Mehdisade sustained leg injuries. Additionally, ANAMA staff members Elchin Alakbarov and Yaver Mirzoyev received shrapnel wounds.

The injured were promptly taken to the hospital, and their lives are not in danger. The Shamkir Military Prosecutor’s Office and the Gazakh District Prosecutor’s Office are currently investigating the incident and conducting other procedural actions.
