Minister: Iran building airbase for UAVs in Lebanon just miles from Israeli border PHOTO
On September 11, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant unveiled photographs showing the construction of an airfield in southern Lebanon, 20 kilometres from the border with Israel, with Iranian flags flying on the runways.
According to NEWSru.co.il, this is a Hezbollah military base located between Marjayoun and Bekaa, north of Mazraat Daraya, about 20 kilometres from the border with Israel (Metula). The Telegram channel Abu Ali Express has published a satellite image with the exact coordinates of the site. The runway is several hundred metres long. Such a runway can be used to launch large aircraft-type UAVs. It is noted that this airbase has recently been reconstructed.
Apparently, this facility could be a target for the IDF. However, Israel is currently refraining from strikes against military facilities on Lebanese territory. At the same time, according to foreign media, the IDF regularly attacks Hezbollah and other pro-Iranian groups' facilities in Syria.
