Minister: Poland builds for war it hopes will never come
Poland is preparing for a possible war while hoping that it will never happen, Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk said in an interview with Super Express.
“We are preparing for war, hoping that it will never come,” Tomczyk said.
He said Poland was strengthening its defence capabilities and preparing for potential attacks on critical energy infrastructure. Among the new systems being developed to protect the country, he highlighted the SAN counter-drone system under the East Shield programme.
Tomczyk said that 80% of the system's capabilities were designed for wartime conditions.
“We are not building an army for a press conference, but building it on the assumption that it must be ready for defensive operations under extremely adverse conditions, and we must have the tools for that,” he said.
