Minsk: Belarus, Russia to create joint satellite constellation in space
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has announced an agreement with Russia to create a joint satellite constellation in space.
The programme is planned to cover not only military purposes, President Lukashenko said at the ceremony of launching the production of animal feed in the Puchavicy district, BelTA informs.
"Together with Russia, we have agreed to create a joint constellation in space — spacecraft," President Lukashenko noted.
"It is not just for military purposes. Russia is huge. We were able to wedge ourselves into this programme and together with the Russians we are creating this constellation of satellites," the president said.
He recalled that Belarus is launching its satellites into space, and announced that another spacecraft is being prepared.
While speaking about the production of satellites, President Lukashenko mentioned a satellite that scans a 35-centimetre object from a height of 500-600 kilometres.
