Minsk furiously summons Polish charge d'affaires over attempts to recruit Belarusian diplomat
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry handed a note of protest to the Charge d'Affaires of Poland following apparent news of Warsaw’s attempt to recruit a Belarusian diplomat overseas.
According to the Belarusian BelTA news agency, the temporary head of the Polish mission, Krzysztof Ożanna, declined to comment on this incident, Caliber.Az reports.
The news first broke when a staff member of the Belarusian embassy in Moldova told Belarusian media that a Polish diplomat attempted to recruit him on behalf of Poland's intelligence services, assumingly willing to offer €100,000.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Minsk, Anatoly Glaz, called it an outrageous incident from the point of view of both domestic and international laws, stating that he believes a number of further diplomatic steps will follow.
