Missile strike hits Italian base in Erbil, no casualties reported
A missile strike targeted an Italian military base in Erbil in the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq overnight, according to the Italian Ministry of Defence.
As reported by Caliber.Az, the ministry said in a post on X, that the base had been hit by a missile.

“A missile hit our base in Erbil. There are no dead or injured among Italian personnel. Everyone is safe,” the ministry said shortly after midnight on Thursday, March 12.
Italian troops stationed at the facility took shelter in a bunker during the attack.
In a separate statement, Antonio Tajani, the foreign minister of Italy, confirmed that the soldiers were unharmed.

“They took refuge in a bunker, and all of them are well and safe,” Tajani wrote.
“Strong condemnation of the attack on the Italian base in Erbil,” he added.
