Modi, Vance discuss closer India-US cooperation in phone call

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone call with US Vice President JD Vance, with the sides discussing ways to strengthen the partnership between New Delhi and Washington in key areas, Modi said on social media platform X.

During the conversation, Modi also congratulated Vance on the birth of his son, Caliber.Az reports.

Received a phone call from US Vice President JD Vance. We discussed ways to further deepen India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership across key areas.

According to The Times of India, the talks covered trade, defense, technology, energy security and mineral extraction. The leaders also exchanged views on global developments of mutual interest.

The conversation took place shortly after the US Senate approved a bill proposing 100% tariffs on imports of Russian oil for five countries, including India.
