MOL Group: Ukraine transfered 35,000 tonnes of oil to Hungary
Ukraine transferred 35,000 tonnes of oil from its storage facilities to Hungary following a fire on the Druzhba oil pipeline, according to Zsolt Hernádi, Chief Executive Officer of Hungarian oil and gas company MOL.
Hernádi said the delivery demonstrated that the pipeline remained undamaged and operational despite the incident. He noted that Hungary received the Ukrainian oil within two to three days and that it flowed through the Druzhba pipeline without disruption, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
According to Hernádi, when the fire broke out, Ukrainian operators began pumping oil from alternative storage facilities and domestic oil fields into the pipeline. He added that Ukrainian counterparts had asked Hungary to quickly receive the oil to prevent the situation from worsening and to help stop the fire from spreading further.
Pumping operations through Druzhba had previously been halted after the pipeline was damaged on January 27.
