Moldova bans cryptocurrency mining and lighting of buildings due to energy crisis

Moldova's Emergency Situations Commission has banned the mining of cryptocurrencies in the country, as well as the import of equipment for it, due to the energy crisis.

Among other measures taken by the commission is the requirement for owners of premises to use heating appliances so that the indoor temperature does not exceed 19 degrees during working hours and 15 degrees during non-working hours, Interfax reports.

Premises owners will also have to give up advertising, decorative and architectural illumination, and turn off fountains.

In addition, the operation of escalators in the premises must be suspended between 7 am and 11 am and between 6 pm and 11 pm.
