Moldova declares intention to fight Russian propaganda

The Moldovan authorities will create an information counteraction centre, whose work will be directed mainly against Russia.

Moldovan President Maya Sandu made the statement at a briefing on May 29, TASS reports.

"In accordance with the constitutional powers in the field of defence and national security, I will propose to the parliament to create a national centre for information security and combating propaganda under the symbolic name of Patriot," Sandu said.

According to her, the agency will protect citizens from information manipulation and combat disinformation at the national level. She added that the work of the new department will be directed against Russia, which Sandu accused of information attacks.
