Moldova offers Gazprom settlement agreement

The Moldovan government has proposed to Gazprom to enter into a settlement agreement, according to which the Russian gas giant and its structures would write off all Moldovagaz debts.

The proposal was sent along with the results of an audit of the debt to Gazprom, Kommersant has learned.

It is expected that in return Chisinau will guarantee the absence of lawsuits in connection with a reduction in supplies by 160 million dollars, and will also pay Gazprom 153.57 million dollars in compensation for “deviations from the tariff”. The Russian company demands over 700 million dollars in debt from Moldovagaz, of which the country recognizes only 8.6 million dollars.
