Moldova’s president nominates businessman Vasile Tofan as PM
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has formally nominated businessman Vasile Tofan as prime minister, setting in motion the process for forming a new government, according to broadcaster TV8.
Under Moldova’s constitutional procedures, Tofan has 15 days to present a governing program, appoint a cabinet and secure a vote of confidence from parliament.
“For me, this is a great honour and a great responsibility. I will do everything possible to meet the expectations of the citizens of Moldova,” Tofan said.
He outlined key priorities for the prospective government, including restoring public trust in state institutions, advancing economic development, improving public administration and supporting the business sector.
Tofan also emphasised his commitment to accelerating Moldova’s European integration.
“Everything we do is aimed at bringing Moldova into the European Union as quickly as possible,” he said.
