Moldova, Ukraine to sign agreement to build bridge over Dniester River
Moldova and Ukraine intend to sign a bilateral agreement on the construction of a bridge across the Dniester River near the town of Yampol.
The agreement was announced by President Maia Sandu on June 5 at a press conference dedicated to the June 1 summit of the European Political Community, according to TASS.
"According to the agreements reached during the summit with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenski, an agreement on the construction of a bridge over the Dniester River on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border in the area of the Cosăuți- Yampil settlements will be signed in the near future," Sandu said.
In May 2022, the Moldovan government had already approved an agreement with Ukraine to build the bridge. The cabinet's decision stated that the 641-meter-long road structure would connect Moldova with the highway between the Ukrainian towns of Mogilev-Podolsky - Yampil - Kryzhopol - Bershad - Uman.
