Moldovan FM backs potential unification with Romania

Moldovan Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mihail Popșoi has voiced support for the idea of unifying Moldova with Romania, describing the issue as a legitimate part of the country’s political debate.

Speaking on Vocea Basarabiei radio, Popșoi said the question of Moldova joining Romania “should not be treated as taboo,” Caliber.Az reports.

According to him, this discussion is “undoubtedly, part of the political process in the country.”

He stressed that concrete steps toward unification would be discussed once there is “significant openness” and support for the idea in both Romania and Moldova.
