Moldovan Prime Minister signals potential exit from CIS
Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has indicated that the country may consider withdrawing from its agreements with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Munteanu made the remarks while responding to a parliamentary question regarding Moldova’s potential departure from the organization, Caliber.Az reports, citing Moldovan media.
“One of our objectives is to review all agreements signed by the Republic of Moldova and evaluate whether those with the CIS remain relevant. We must ask ourselves whether we can, and should, suspend, cancel, or withdraw from them,” the prime minister stated.
Moldova has been a member of the CIS since 1994. In 2022, the country began a gradual process of denouncing certain agreements while simultaneously signaling its intention to leave the bloc.
