Montreal shooting leaves three dead, including police officer
Three people were killed, including a police officer, in a shooting in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood in Canada on June 21, according to Montreal police (SPVM).
The incident began at around 11:35 a.m. near the intersection of Courtrai and Trans Island avenues. A 34-year-old police officer was fatally shot, while a female officer sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. Officials said her condition is no longer considered life-threatening.
A civilian was also killed in the shooting. Police said the gunman was fatally shot during the incident. His identity has not been released.
Authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation has been handed over to Quebec’s police watchdog, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI).
