Moscow court schedules hearing in Central Bank lawsuit against Euroclear
The Moscow Arbitration Court has scheduled a hearing for March 4 in a lawsuit filed by the Central Bank of Russia against Belgian depository Euroclear over frozen Russian assets.
The proceedings will be held behind closed doors, as case materials contain information that may qualify as banking secrecy, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
After the launch of the special military operation, EU and G7 countries froze around €300 billion in Russian assets, about €180 billion of which are held by Euroclear.
On December 12, the European Union confirmed that the assets would remain frozen until the end of the conflict, after which the Central Bank of Russia filed a lawsuit against Euroclear seeking 18.17 trillion rubles (approximately $233.2 billion).
