“Medicare for All”: Americans skeptical of pro-Armenian Senator Schiff’s promises

14 September 2026 11:20

A proposal by pro-Armenian California Senator Adam Schiff to introduce universal health insurance through “Medicare for All” has sparked debate among US voters online, Caliber.Az reports, citing US-based outlet The Nerd Stash.

Schiff posted a video on X arguing that if Democrats regain control of Congress, simply returning to the situation that existed before President Donald Trump took office would not be enough. Instead, he said, the party should pursue “a bold agenda like Medicare for All.”

According to Schiff’s post, “a bold agenda like Medicare for All” would sharply reduce costs and improve Americans’ lives.

Some users dismissed the proposal as an empty promise. One commenter wrote, “Always the promise never the result,” while another described it as “an empty campaign promise.”

Others focused on the potential cost. One commenter asked, “So I am assuming you have $4 trillion a year to pay for that?” Another more detailed response argued that independent estimates indicate a single-payer system would require “somewhere between thirty and forty-plus trillion dollars over a decade in new federal spending.”

Several commenters compared the proposal with the Affordable Care Act. One asked, “I thought you and Obama fixed the healthcare system with obamacare. What happened there?????” Another responded sarcastically: “You mean a bold agenda like the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)? That worked well!”

Another user argued that no government program has “saved anyone a penny” and claimed that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act had “caused insurance costs to SKYROCKET.” Others questioned whether a government-run system would actually lower prices, with one commenter comparing the claim to the cost of higher education.
