Moscow ridicules proposed EU fish ban with sharp jibe Prohibit air from Russia

The Russian Embassy in the Netherlands has ridiculed reported European Union plans to impose sanctions on Russian fish products, responding with a sarcastic suggestion that Europeans should also be prohibited from breathing air carried by winds from Russia.

The remarks were published by the diplomatic mission on the social media platform X, Caliber.Az reports.

“We have a better idea: instead of banning Russian fish products (and yes, get ready for prices to rise), Eurocrats could just ban Europeans from breathing air carried in by the wind from Russia,” the embassy said.

The statement was issued in response to discussions within the EU regarding potential restrictions on Russian fish imports as part of broader sanctions measures against Moscow.

The European Union has argued that sanctions are aimed at increasing economic pressure on Russia, while Moscow has repeatedly claimed that the measures also carry costs for European consumers and businesses.
