Mudflow kills one, leaves another missing on Kyrgyz highway VIDEO

A mudflow on a key highway in Kyrgyzstan has left one person dead, and another missing, authorities said, as emergency services continued search operations.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations told Kyrgyz media that the incident occurred on the evening of June 5 along the Balykchy–Ananyevo–Karakol road, at the 92nd kilometre, according to Caliber.Az.

The mud swept away two vehicles — a Mercedes Sprinter and a Ford Mondeo — along with two men.

Rescuers recovered the body of one victim close to midnight, while the search for the second individual remains ongoing.

Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Emergency Situations, Kanatbek Chynybaev, is at the scene overseeing response efforts.
